The iCandy Cerium – reviewing the ultimate All Black Everything Pushchair

Lifestyle

AD – PR PRODUCT* & AFFILIATE LINKS

Quite possibly the most important purchase and the one I was most excited for when I found out I was pregnant, was of course, the pushchair.

Picking the colour was an absolute no brainer and although black pushchairs have become more and more popular over the past few years finding an All Black Everything pushchair was harder than I had initially thought.

I had come across so many black pushchairs online but the frame was either silver, chrome or even white. Nope, nope, and nope. I needed the black fabric, on the black carry cot attached to a black frame. Oh! And the wheels needed to be all black too. One (impossible sounding) google search later and I came across the incredibly chic and stylish iCandy Cerium – it was love at first sight.

The iCandy Cerium had ticked all of the (many) boxes in terms of aesthetic but was she all style over substance? We popped in to one of their stockists for a demo and got to try out a number of different styles as well as other brands – this is something I would highly recommend doing. I knew immediately that the Cerium was the perfect pushchair for our growing family. It was the pushchair I kept going back to and comparing others against, we were totally sold.

The first impressions of the Cerium in store were great. Now 4 months on I can share a tried and tested review. Read on to find out what sets the Cerium apart from other leading pushchair models and how we have found it’s performance over the past 4 months.

Comfort and Safety

The iCandy Cerium has a great sized carrycot that’s suitable from birth. Bigger in size compared to the other carrycot pushchairs we looked at, it’s also designed to be suitable for overnight sleeping. Although we haven’t had to use the carrycot over night (hello COVID baby!) this has been a fantastic feature for when Margot falls asleep on a walk – she can stay undisturbed for as long as she wants and I have peace of mind knowing she is comfortable and safe.

Something I recently discovered and shared on my instagram is that you shouldn’t put SPF on babies. Luckily I found this out before smothering Margot in factor 50! I also discovered that the multi-functioning canopy on the Cerium is SPF50+ and with its mesh ventilation is perfect for the hot spells we’ve been experiencing in the UK.

Practicality

Something I wanted to be sure of was the practical performance of the pushchair. On those days when it’s pouring down with rain and I’ve got to pop out in the car, I didn’t want to be caught out wrestling a pushchair in and out of the boot. I’ve found its one handed fold design super easy to use, it’s also compact and easy to lift in and out of the car making it a stress free outing.

The Cerium also has a spacious storage basket with a 10kg capacity, ideal for sending all of those book orders and perfect for loading up with shopping (no toppling buggy here!). And even with the baby on board and the basket full to the brim the iCandy cerium is lightweight to push and easy to manoeuvre.

Height

Another fantastic feature that made it stand out from the rest is the height of the Cerium. With it’s adjustable handlebar heights and elevator adapters the Cerium is ideal for the taller family. I am 5’7” and my husband is 6’3” so finding something suitable for both of us was really important. Having the carrycot elevated makes it easier to get Margot in and out, meaning we are less likely to disturb her and cause ourselves a back injury in the process.

Terrain

One question I get asked when ever I share the pushchair on my instagram stories is, ‘how does it handle different terrains?’ This is something we were able to try out in store, and was another really important aspect to choosing the right pushchair. Living in a town well known for it’s cobbled streets isn’t ideal when you want your baby to get those z’s in but you need your daily dose of caffeine from Pret.

The Cerium handles all terrain wonderfully. I walk the dogs twice a day through a park with a relatively smooth path, but guess where they like to do their business, in the middle of the field. No problem, the cerium is great on grass and Margot remains undisturbed. Trips in to town mean cobbles, kerbs, hills and the occasional pavement pothole, all are a breeze for the Cerium. Even with a latte in hand, it is a smooth and manageable ride

Would I recommend the iCandy Cerium?

100% yes! If you have the budget for the iCandy Cerium you won’t be disappointed. This pushchair delivers on both function and style. A luxurious feel with fantastic features that make it suitable for all types of families. As first time parents this suits our current needs perfectly. Knowing it can become a double means it will suit our future family too. A fantastic investment for our family and one we plan on making many more #icandymoments with.
