The first 5 months of motherhood have been incredible. Full of new experiences, new routines and new accessories!
There are a lot of things you sacrifice when you become a mum. Your pelvic floor. Sleep. But there was one thing that I wasn’t prepared to give up – I wasn’t going to let becoming a mum change my personal style or affect my All Black Everything wardrobe!
When it came to the changing bag, I knew that if I was going to be carrying around nappies, bum cream and all of the muslin cloths that I was going to do it in style!
And thanks to the Elwood changing backpack from Tiba + Marl that’s exactly what I do. At a glance, it doesn’t even look like a changing bag – win! It’s gorgeous black snake embossed faux leather and sleek gun metal hardware meant I would be able to continue my all black everything wardrobe in to motherhood. And it’s Unisex, which means the hubby can carry it and still look uber cool (he makes me sick ?)!
Not only does the Elwood changing backpack look incredible but the list of endless features make it super practical too:
Water resistant and wipe clean – anything to make life with a newborn easier.
Luxury padded changing mat – this wipes clean really easily and folds down so it’s really compact.
Insulated bottle holder – great for keeping bottles warm …or beers/rosé cold (you thought it too!).
Internal laptop sleeve – we both have a 12.9” iPad Pro and it slips in perfectly.
Two large Internal elasticated pockets, perfect for wipes and nappies – we fill these with the eco by naty nappies, a pack of waterwipes and Burt’s Bees diaper ointment. Also handy for storing chargers and usb cables if you’re taking your laptop out with you.
Removable wet clutch / cross body bag – I have used this daily, I grab it when we pop out to the shops, head out for brunch (my favourite meal of the day), on date nights, the list is endless. It’s chic and minimal, I love it!
Grab top handle – super functional when leaving in a hurry…we’re ALWAYS in a hurry because we’re ALWAYS late!
Padded lower back panel – comfort is key.
Chunky metal zips with double pullers for easy access – when you have a baby you learn to do a lot with one hand.
Adjustable padded shoulder straps with metal adjustors – great for me, great for Dad.
Wipe clean lining – because babies and mess go hand in hand.
Dustbag included – anything that comes with a dust bag screams luxury – I love it!

The luxurious mix of materials give the Elwood changing backpack an edgy feel, and the all black materials and gun metal hardware have meant that it fits into my wardrobe seamlessly. I feel great carrying it and the functional 3 compartments are incredibly practical making life as a new mum so much easier.
Leaving the house feeling like you have your shit together is priceless in those first weeks. Gone are the days when I would glide out of the house with just my phone and house keys (I don’t even need to remember my purse nowadays!). Oh no, now we have to make sure ‘Ziggy’ and chums are packed and ready to play, and heaven forbid we forget wipes (been there, it wasn’t pretty!) .
So as much as I love that it looks great on, I love that it does the job even more.
Right my friends, someone has just woken up from her nap so I’m going to wrap this up here – If you want to see what I really pack in our Tiba + Marl changing bag then head over to my YouTube channel, I’d love to see you over there.
